For the Affordable Art Fair Brussels 2026, Mathilde Wittock partnered with Volvo to create an immersive installation around the EX30 Cross Country — a space where sound becomes a vehicle for travel and imagination.
The project explores listening as a way of travelling. Soundscapes rise from sculptural tubes grown from roots and sculpted in the MWO studio, as if the material itself were carrying distant landscapes. Recorded over several years during Mathilde’s own journeys, their exact locations remain intentionally undisclosed — an invitation for each visitor to build their own route through listening and imagination.
True to MWO’s eco-design approach, the sculptural speakers are shaped from an innovative root-grown material, while the surrounding acoustic walls are crafted from felt made of recycled plastic bottles. The mural was produced with the support of Dynagraph.
